DIY Photo Canvas
Photo canvases can be expensive. I hate how pricey they are and you never really know what kind of quality you are getting. Soooo... I tried an easier route:
I started with a printed picture from Walgreens with the size I wanted. I think I printed an 11x14. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought an 11 x 14 canvas and some Modge Podge (which I am not entirely convinced that it is much more than elmers glue.) I didn't want to chance it so I spent the $6 on matte Modge Podge. I also assumed I had paint brushes at home. Turns out, I didn't. So I had to make do with a new sponge.
I cut my picture to fit how I wanted on the canvas - I wanted a little white border around the entire picture and the canvas was the same size as the photo so I definitely had some trimming to do. Once it was trimmed, I dumped a bunch of Modge Podge on top of the canvas so the back of my picture had something to adhere to and spread it around.
Then I placed the trimmed picture on the canvas where I wanted it to sit.
Next, I poured more Modge Podge on top of the picture - not being clean whatsoever - and spread it around with a clean sponge. I actually now prefer a sponge over a paintbrush now. It's easier to spread around and since it was bigger, it made nice clean lines.
Below is the picture after about 10 minutes of drying time
And Voila! Dried overnight and I have the finished product!
